This small rectanglar bronze medal was minted in December 1937 to commemorate the first tranche of affordable housing in Montevideo. The obverse has a wonderful image of the corner of a verandah of a house through which can be seen other housing in the background. The bottom is stamped "XXIII.XII.MCMXXXVII" i.e. "23 December 1937".
The reverse is stamped "Inauguracion del Primer Barro de Viviendas Economicas Montevideo Presidente de la Republique Dr Gabriel Terra Ministro de O. Publicas Dr Martin R Echegoyen" It is stamped Tammaro - the minter.
