A boxed silver & enamel surprise egg by Stuart Devlin

This wonderful silver egg was made by Stuart Devlin in 1981. The top lifts off to reveal a hen with wings outstretched standing over a chick that has just hatched from its shell. The hen is silver as is the chick and its shell but the latter have been gilded. The base is green enamel on textured silver.
The egg is hallmarked for 1981and is stamped "75" its limited edition number. The exterior of the egg is textured and gilded.
The egg is in a leather trim box with red silk and velvet interior.
