An Art Deco medal by Jean Camus

The obverse of this lovely rectangular Art Deco bronze medal depicts a nude woman drinking from a gargoyle headed fountain with a building, foliage and a mountain in the background. The medical symbol being the staff of Asclepius, (a staff and one serpent) is depicted on the front of the fountain. The reverse is plain except for the words "ECOLE DE MEDECINE DE CLERMONT-FERRAND".
The mountain in the background appears to be the Puy de Dome, the large lava dome that is approximately 6 miles from Clermont-Ferrand.
The rim is stamped "BRONZE" with a triangular mark containing initials that appear to be "JB".
The medal is signed "JEAN CAMUS" on the obverse.

Jean- Marie Camus (1877-1955) Studied under Barrias and made his debut at the Salon in 1900. he was awarded the gold medal in 1931 and was a made a Chevalier de la Legion d'Honneur.
