Art Deco black lacquered wooden tea caddy

This lovely tea caddy is made in the Art Deco period probably in Japan. The wooden box has rounded edges and has been black lacquered. The lid has been decorated with a triangular maze pattern in the top left hand corner created by inlaying silver coloured flattened wire. The bottom right hand corner has also been decorated using yellow and amber coloured lacquer to give a grained appearance behind an inlaid silver coloured flat wire. It has its original gilt metal push button fastener within a gilt metal escutcheon. The hinged lid lifts to reveal a black lacquered wooden inner lid that has its original black finial. The interior of the box and and underside of the inner lid have been lined with silver foil.
