c1960s USSR white metal tea glass commemorating Sputnik

This tea glass or "podstakannik" was made in the USSR c1960s to commemorate the launch of the Sputnik spaceship. The holder is made in white metal and the central cartouche depicts Sputnik in space. Floral scrolls flank the cartouche and the tea glass has a curved and decorated handle. The glass beaker is intact but may not be original to the tea glass. The underside is stamped - it appears to be "10ME7M7" The first Sputnik was launched in 1957 and although there were a number of Sputniks I think that it is likely that this was made to commemorate the launch of the first one rather than the subsequent ones. A great collectible item that is also practical. A very stylish mug for your early morning tea!
