François-Paul Niclausse bronze plaque on macassar ebony wooden base

This gorgeous Art Deco bronze plaque is byFrançois-Paul Niclausse. It depicts a naked woman sitting on a cloud leaning to her left on an urn from which water pours down onto the earth below.The words "La Grande Source de Vittel" are on the bottom of the plaque. It is signed "F P Niclausse" and is presented on a macassar ebony veneered base. You can stand it up and use it decoratively or lay it down flat and use it decoratively or as a desk weight.

(1879 -1958)
Born in Metz and lived at Bisset de Saint Augustin (Seine et Marne).
Exhibited at the Exposition Internationale et Universelle de Bruxelles, 1910
Studied under Ponscarme & Thomas at the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux-arts in Paris
Appointed professor at the Ecole Nationale des Arts Decoratifs in 1930.
Elected a member of the Academy of Fine Arts paris in 1943 unitl his death
Awarded the Legion of Honour.
