This superb silvered bronze medal is by Georges Ridet. The obverse depicts a blacksmith beating a piece of metal at an anvil. In the background are a car, pylon aeroplane, machinery and a man shoeing a horse. "Le Fer" (Iron) is stamped at the bottom and it is signed "Georges Ridet". The reverse has a wreath of oak leaves and laurel and the central cartouche is stamped "Offert par le Syndicat Patronal du Batiment et des Travaux Publics de la Region de Rouen" (Given by the Building and Public Works Union of Rouen). The rim is stamped "bronze" and with the Cornucopia mark for the Paris Mint. It is presented in a box the inside lid of which is printed "Maison Boillot Rouen"
