This lovely vintage gilt metal brooch is by the American costume jewellery designer & manufacturer Kenneth J Lane. Probably made in the 1960-70s it is very evocative of Renaissance Re vital jewellery and depicts a putto playing a harp on the back of a lion on a scrolling stand. there is a faux pearl and faux turquoise stone set into the body of the lion and the stand is set with green blue red & cognac coloured paste. There are three tear drop shaped faux pearls suspended form the bottom of the stand.
