Maurice Delannoy boxed bronze medal

This super medal is by Maurice Delannoy. The obverse depicts a woman in profile holding fruit and corn in her left arm and a scythe in her right. The reverse has an oak leaf and laurel garland with the words "Offert par le Conseil General de l'Allier" in the centre. The edge is stamped "Bronze" and has a triangular mint mark. It is presented in a maroon box with red velvet and silk interior. The top of the box has an applied label with words written in ink, the only decipherable ones being "1st prix".

Maurice Delannoy, (1885 – 1972)
French sculptor and engraver of coins and medals.
He studied at the Ecole Germain Pilon where he was a pupil of Charles Valton & Jules Edward Roine
He was an associate of and exhibited at the Society of French Artists, receiving a bronze medal in 1923 and a silver medal in 1926.
He designed coins for Morocco, Lebanon & Monaco and was made a Chevalier of the Legion d’Honneur in 1947 .
