This wonderful bronze medal is by Raoul Lamourdedieu and was struck for the the French Bakers' Union. The obverse depicts a man in a bakery using the paddle to either insert or emote something from the oven. The reverse depicts a sheaf of corn with crossed paddles and bread scales and an empty cartouche. The words "Syndicat General de la Boulangerie Francaise" are stamped around the edge and the medal is signed "R Lamourdedieu".
The edge is stamped "Bronze" with the cornucopia mark for the Paris Mint.
There is also a round bronze coloured metal lapel badge decorated in the same way as the reverse of the medal.

Born in Fauguerolles (Lot-et-Garonne) France
In 1894, he entered the /’Ecole des Beaux-Arts where he studied under Alexandre Falguiere & Alexandre Charpentier
In 1900, he produced sculptures for the Grand Palais Paris.
He exhibited at various exhibitions until 1930 when he became professor at l’Ecole des Beaux-Arts.
He was made a knight of the Legion of Honour
