Stuart Devlin silver & silver gilt surprise egg

This super silver and silver gilt surprise egg is by Stuart Devlin. The silver exterior has a textured gilded finish. Inside is a gilded silver wedge of cheese with a mouse appearing from it. The mouse has been oxidised and its tail appears out of one side of the cheese wedge and its oxidised head appears out of the other side. The mouse trembles/wobbles. The egg has been hallmarked by the London Assay Office for silver and 1971, it has Stuart Devlin's sponsors' mark and the base is stamped "Made in England 200" which corresponds with the accompanying certificate that confirms that the egg is No 200 of a limited edition of 300 pieces. The egg is presented in the black red silk and velvet lined Devlin box. The egg will sit upright and does not need a stand to enable it to be displayed.
