This impressive ice bucket was made by the German factory WMF (Wurttembergische Metallwarenfabrik) probably in the late 1920s - early 1930s.
Beneath the rim of and encircling the ice bucket is a broad pattern of swirls & elongated triangles reminiscent of abstract roses.
It has sweeping handles ending in rounded finials decorated with incised swirls with openwork horizontal panels joining the top of the rim to the top of the handles.
The underside of the base has 3 cartouches.
One contains the letters "OX".
The other has the running ostrich with the letters "WMF G" within the inner diamond shaped cartouche.
The third cartouche has an "I" & an "O" in each inner triangle.
There is what appears to be an incised letter 'R".
