This bronze Art Deco medal is by A Mayer. The obverse depicts the bust of a woman looking to her right with flowing hair and a laurel branch behind her head. The background is textured rather like feathers. The reverse is blank. the rim is not stamped.

German sculptor
Studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Munich.
From1885 he was an assistant in the studio of Professor Wilhelm von Rumann and also worked as an independent artist.
He was a member of the German National Association of Visual Arts and the Munich Artists' Association.
In 1901 he was awarded the Ludwig medal for Science & Art and in 1910 was awarded the Prince Regent Luitpold silver medal.
