This lovely silvered bronze octagonal boxed medal was struck to commemorate the 17th national & international womens' gymnastics competition held in Évian-les-Bains in 1936. In the foreground of the obverse is a woman in a short tunic with a long scarf At her feet is the Évian-les-Bains town shield that depicts a fish with a smaller fish in its mouth, whilst in the background are two sailing boats with a shoreline view of the town
The reverse has the words "XVIIme Fete Federale National et Internationale de Gymnastique Feminine Evian-les-Bains" above a boat shaped cartouche engraved with foliage.
The medal is not signed but the rim is stamped "Bronze" and has a triangular mark.
The top of the box is embossed "Offert par le Petit Marseillais" in gilt lettering.
