John Clappison for Hornsea "World's Best Dartsplayer"

This humorous mug was designed by John Clappison for the Yorkshire pottery Hornsea as part of the "World's Best" series in the 1960s -1979.. This one is the "World's Best Dartsplayer". The background colour is pink and depicts a man with an overflowing beer mug in one hand having thrown a dart whilst his dog watches with a gloomy expression! I think that you either love these mugs or hate them but there has been a resurgent interest in the designs of John Clappison. The base is marked "Hornsea England" and has the Hornsea double bird mark.
